Pregnant Cardi B pokes fun at using fashion to disguise her baby bump
She can finally let it all hang out.
Cardi B announced that she was happily parting ways with her bump-covering fashion after confirming that she is pregnant with her third child with estranged husband, Offset.
“I’m so happy y’all know I’m🤰🏻now I can stop wearing those deum [sic] school girl skirts lmaoooooo 😂 😂,” she wrote via X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.
The “WAP” rapper has sported quite a few pleated miniskirts with a high waist — in an attempt to conceal her growing baby bump while keeping with her skin-baring style — over the last few months before announcing her pregnancy.
Cardi, whose real name is Belcalis Almánzar, most recently wore a navy blue and white skirt while filming a video for her new song “Wanna Be (Remix)” with GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion.
She gave the entire look a preppy feel by adding a blue and white striped button down shirt with a yellow sweater vest and added tiny blue and white bows all throughout her long hair.
Prior to that video, Cardi wore a plaid beige schoolgirl skirt with a tight short-sleeve graphic T-shirt.
She accessorized the outfit with tall white socks with black bows on the side and another white bow holding back her ponytail.
The “I Like It” artist, 31, played with the trend once again while posing for a photo with her two children, Kulture, 6, and Wave, 2, sporting a cream skirt, blue collared sweatshirt, beige boots and matching beige bow pinned to the top of her head.
Despite giving the trend a try for the last few months, Cardi has moved on to flaunting her bare bump now that the news is public.
Not only did she confirm her pregnancy while wearing a red gown with an ultra low-cut neckline that went past her belly button, but she also stepped out in a Dior sports bra and low-slung pants for her first appearance after the news.
Cardi spilled the beans that she was expecting her third child with Offset just one day after she filed for divorce.
“With every ending comes a new beginning! I am so grateful to have shared this season with you, you have brought me more love, more life and most of all renewed my power! Reminded me that I can have it all!” she captioned her photos.
“They’ve grown apart. That’s what drove her to this decision more than anything else. This is something she wants to do,” a source told Page Six last week of the breakup decision.
The insider added that infidelity did not play a role in the split and that it was not “something that happened overnight.”
“They’ve both been on the same page. There wasn’t [pushback]. They’ve grown apart and that feeling has gotten stronger over time. It’s become unavoidable,” the source shared.
Cardi and Offset –– who share daughter Kulture and son Wave –– have had an on-again, off-again relationship since they started dating in February 2017.
The two secretly married in September 2017 and Cardi filed for divorce in 2020, though the pair got back together before the split was finalized.
By December 2023, Cardi announced that they had broken up again before they reconciled once again.
