Man found Monday morning shot to death behind business, police say

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Officers reported another homicide on Monday morning, hours after a mass shooting left one person dead and six people wounded.

This morning around 6 a.m. Kansas City police were called to 38th and Pittman on a sound of gunshots call.

While officers were on the way the call was updated to a shooting behind a business in the 9800 block of E. US 40 Hwy.

On arrival, officers were led into the wooded area behind the business to what appeared to be a homeless campsite.

There they found a man outside a tent that looked to have been shot.

Based on the information provided by numerous people on the scene, when officers arrived they took one man into custody.

Preliminary investigation indicates the suspect and victim had an argument there that escalated, eventually leading to shots fired and the victim being struck.
