Inland Empire adds 5,700 jobs in June, biggest leap since November

Workers in Riverside and San Bernardino counties in June enjoyed the largest job growth in seven months.

Bosses in the two counties had 1.71 million workers in June – up 5,700 in a month, the largest gain since November, says new data from California’s Employment Development Department.

Inland Empire jobs are up 31,100 over 12 months. That’s 1.9% one-year job growth vs. Orange County’s 1.4% and Los Angeles County’s 1.3%.

However, the region’s unemployment rate was 5.3% in June vs. 4.3% the previous month and 4.8% a year earlier. Orange County was 4% and LA was 5.9% in June.

Please note that joblessness rising in June is typical as government educators leave work for summer break.
