The 10 most coveted jobs in the U.S.

Do you have a dream job that sounds too far-fetched or too unstable to become a reality? You’re not alone.

Marketing platform HostingAdvice surveyed 3,000 Americans to find out which careers they envy the most, and surprisingly, high-paying jobs like lawyer, software engineer and investment banker didn’t make the list. Instead, roles focused more on creativity and less on being strapped to an office desk made the cut: From food-oriented careers like cheese artisan and chocolatier to more physical ones like wildlife photographer and adventure tour guide.

Given the rate of burnout in the U.S., it stands to reason that Americans are being drawn to less traditional careers. Notably, an estimated 60% of workers feel detached at work, while 19% report feeling downright miserable, according to market research company Gitnux. That isn’t to say their chosen dream jobs wouldn’t come with different stressors — the food industry, for example, is notoriously challenging, with little work-life balance. But these job choices do suggest that Americans are looking for a career they can be passionate about, even if they’re hesitant to pursue it.
