Two Salt Lake County residents have been indicted by a federal grand jury on multiple violent crime charges after allegedly shooting a woman during an attempted carjacking, according to court documents.

Lt Col Siamelie Nick Mila, 20, and Maddyn Dean Christiansen are accused of attempting to steal a vehicle in the parking lot of an EoS Fitness facility located at 555 South 900 East in Murray on April 3, 2024. The incident left a woman with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Surveillance footage showed the victim walking towards her vehicle when Mila exited a black Audi, driven by Christiansen, and approached her. Minutes later, the victim was seen limping back towards the gym as the Audi fled the scene.

Information gathered through witness statements, interviews, and surveillance video revealed that Mila and the victim exchanged gunfire after Mila allegedly demanded the victim’s car keys at gunpoint. The victim, who possessed a concealed carry permit, fired her weapon at Mila, who did not legally possess a firearm.

The victim was transported to a hospital via ambulance. Later that evening, Mila arrived at a local hospital emergency room with a gunshot wound and was arrested following medical treatment.

U.S. Attorney Trina A. Higgins announced that the case is being investigated by the FBI Salt Lake City Field Office and the Murray City Police Department, with Assistant United States Attorney Carlos A. Esqueda prosecuting the case as part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative.
