Netflix Christmas Day NFL Games To Be Produced By CBS Sports

Netflix will use CBS Sports as producer for the two National Football League games the streamer is carrying this Christmas.

The Wall St. Journal reports the one-year deal with CBS Sports is only for the production of the games, and doesn’t include selection of the on-air talent. While that doesn’t rule out use of CBS announcers, Netflix may opt to put its own stamp on the game with different choices, the WSJ reports.

CBS will receive a production fee for the two games, as well as promotional spots for its own programming. CBS will also receive ad inventory in the broadcast coverage of the games in the local markets of the competing teams. Games that are streamed or on cable must be made available via local over-the-air television in the cities of the teams that are playing, the NFL insists.

“CBS has consistently proven itself to be a best-in-class partner,” Brandon Riegg, Netflix’s vice president of nonfiction series and sports, said in a statement.

Netflix’s contract with the NFL is for Christmas games over the next three seasons. This year, the games are a matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers, followed by a game between the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans.

It has yet to be announced whether Netflix will carry one or multiple games in the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
