New Video Highlights 10 Potential Changes Arriving To The M4 Mac mini, Including The Possibility Of An SD Card Reader
The M4 Mac mini was previously reported to arrive later this year with a massive redesign that would make it flaunt the compactness of an Apple TV but just slightly taller to accommodate the extra hardware. However, an aesthetic makeover also means other internal and external changes that we should look forward to, which have been highlighted in one video, so let us check that out.
New colors are also expected with the M4 Mac mini, with an aluminum shell to boost its premium look
A smaller chassis has been mentioned previously, but the YouTube channel Max Tech decided to mention it anyway, as it is perhaps the biggest change arriving to the M4 Mac mini. This is notable information because analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted that the M4 MacBook Pro models coming later this year will feature the same design as the machines featuring the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max. Then again, the Mac mini has not received a significant overhaul in 14 years, so saying it was long overdue would be a massive understatement. Of course, we should expect Apple to introduce M4 and M4 Pro options for its compact machine.
Looking at past benchmarks where the M4 manages to outpace the M3 and more powerful chipsets like the M3 Pro and Snapdragon X Elite in both single-core and multi-core tests, it is a guarantee that the M4 Pro powering the Mac mini will deliver performance like no other portable computer out there. Other changes, such as three USB-C ports at the back, are also expected to arrive, with all three likely supporting the Thunderbolt 4 protocol and an HDMI port. These additions will be possible because the M4 was earlier reported to have four Thunderbolt 4 controllers, which is twice as much as the M3.
Also, the Mac mini has only arrived in the silver finish ever since its inception, and while that has been fine for many, the video mentions that there could be a Space Black option down the road. Other changes, such as a redesigned cable that is also braided, could arrive with the packaging. Based on previous reports, the launch of the M4 Mac mini is not expected to happen before October, which is typical of Apple hardware launches. However, given that there will be a redesign, we firmly believe that there will be a live event, though its duration will be short.
