Reports: Tyson to cut up to 500 jobs in N.C. | Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

News outlets in North Carolina have reported that Tyson Foods Inc. has decided to cut jobs at its plant in Wilkesboro, N.C.

In response to questions about the job cuts in the Wilkesboro plant, a Tyson spokesperson said: “Due to increasing demand, we are shifting production in our Wilkesboro, N.C., facility to support our Tyson fully cooked products. As a result of these process changes, fewer positions will be required in the facility. Our priority is to help team members impacted by this change, and we are working with them to offer other opportunities at Tyson Foods.”

Tyson did not detail the number of jobs targeted; other news outlets reported that as many as 500 jobs will be cut.

The job cuts come as the Springdale-based company has closed eight plants in 2023 and one in 2024 as the company tries to optimize its efficiency.

In its most recent earnings report, Tyson posted third quarter revenue of $13.35 billion and a net quarterly profit of $191 million.
