Over 1,300 new jobs expected as Amazon expands into Port St. Lucie, other FL locations

More than 1,300 new jobs are expected to be created in Port St. Lucie and other Florida locations through Amazon, the company states.

Over $36 billion has been invested in Florida by Amazon since 2010, according to findings from its 2024 U.S. Economic Impact Reporton Tuesday.

Other key findings from the report include:

  • Jobs Created: More than 52,000 direct jobs
  • Economic Contribution: Over $38 billion to Florida’s economy
  • Indirect Jobs Supported: More than 82,000 in 2023 in fields like construction, transportation, retail, healthcare, hospitality and more.

Amazon says it plans to invest even more— starting in Port St. Lucie. A new one-million-square-foot Inbound Cross-dock will be built to intake third-party and Amazon products for distribution to fulfillment centers.

The remaining three sites will be delivery stations in Melbourne, Jacksonville, and Tampa, the company says.

The new sites are expected to create more than 1,300 full- and part-time jobs, with hourly employees earning an average pay of over $20.50 per hour across Amazon’s customer fulfillment and transportation networks.

Amazon says it expects the four new sites to open in 2024 at the following locations:

  • Inbound Cross-Dock: 7600 LTC Parkway, Port St. Lucie, FL, 34986
  • Delivery Station: 3998 Sarno Road, Melbourne, FL, 32934
  • Delivery Station: 855 Saint Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL, 32225
  • Delivery Station: 13010 Bay Industrial Drive, Tampa, FL, 33534

“Port St. Lucie is excited to welcome Amazon’s new fulfillment center on Midway Road, which will create 1,000 valuable jobs for our community,” said Port St. Lucie Mayor Shannon Martin. “This expansion offers a fantastic opportunity for local residents—many of whom previously commuted out of the county for work—while also supporting our local economy by keeping dollars circulating within the community and reinforcing Port St. Lucie as a vibrant place to live, work, and play.”
