How to Preorder the New Google TV Streamer
How do you watch your favorite streaming content? If you’re a Google Chromecast fan, it’s time for an upgrade. Google just announced its latest streaming device, the Google TV Streamer. It’s a radically different experience meant to replace the Chromecast that you already have while bringing you 4K video content in a faster, more premium package. Even better news? You can preorder it right now.
The Google TV Streamer officially debuts on September 24, 2024 for $100, but you can lock one in for yourself right now. If you’re a fan of the Google ecosystem, you’ll want to make sure you’ve got your own ASAP, because it’s likely these devices will sell out.
This isn’t your run-of-the-mill streaming stick. Not anymore. Instead, it’s meant to retain the best of your Chromecast device while acting as a smart home hub for both your Google Home and Matter devices. It comes with an improved processor than the most recent Chromecast as well as 32GB of storage and 4K HDR with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
Of note is the streamer’s usage of Google’s Gemini AI technology. In addition to letting you sift through over 700,000 movies and shows via YouTube TV, Netflix, Apple TV, Disney+ and Netflix, you can watch over 800 free channels as well.
You can figure out what to watch via Google’s Gemini AI, which helps to curate specific suggestions using all the subscriptions you currently have, bundling it all together in one place. It’ll allow you to create watchlists and share them with others in your home, so you don’t have to sit around trying to figure out what to watch all night. Gemini will also provide full reviews, summaries, and additional information for your favorite shows to help you catch up.
Google TV Streamer
The next evolution of Google’s Chromecast line is the Google TV Streamer. With an improved processor, 4K quality, 32GB of storage, and the power of Google’s Gemini AI features, this streaming device will be your new TV companion that can also act as a smart hub for your home devices.
The physical device has undergone a serious makeover as well. While previous models resembled a round disc-like object or a USB drive, the Google TV Streamer boasts a much more minimalist design.
You’ll get a sleek, smooth, oval-shaped slate with a very similar-looking remote with the Google TV Streamer. The remote features dedicated Netflix and YouTube buttons, plus the usual power button, volume, voice control option and everything else you’d normally find. Plus, you can choose from two colors: Porcelain and Hazel, which is a Google Store exclusive.
Google TV Streamer officially hits retailers on September 24. Be sure and grab yours now if you’re ready for a huge jump forward from the Chromecast.
