Oregon is one of top destinations where in-state travel is on the rise: Airbnb
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Both Oregon and Washington are within the top 10 states that have experienced an upswing in local traveling, according to Airbnb.
Earlier this week, the vacation rental company reported that the number of bookings located within 300 miles from travelers’ homes has almost doubled in five years.
Oregon is among the worst states to live in, according to WalletHub
The company also said late summer holidays are popular for brief getaways. For example, Airbnb found that more than 50% of users who booked vacation homes drove to their destination for Labor Day 2023.
“Although international travel has rebounded to pre-pandemic levels, the trend of traveling locally shows no signs of slowing,” Airbnb said. “In fact, local travel is growing twice as fast as long-distance travel on Airbnb.”
Data show that this trend is especially true in larger states and those with popular outdoor destinations.
