Supercell: The Clash of Clans giant has a new chief financial officer in Gerard Griffin. He joins from Sportradar, where he held the same position, but he has worked across the games industry in senior finance roles Zynga and EA.
Electronic Arts: The US publishing giant has brought Marianna Vallejo on board as director of product. She is working on a mobile title at the company’s casual division. Vallejo joins from Playrix where she was development director and CEO of the company’s internal studio for three-and-a-half years following an 11-year stint at Daly Magic Productions.
Apple: Mike Escudero has joined the tech giant to work in games business development. He joins from 2K and has previously worked at Scopely, Disney and 21st Century Fox in biz dev and strategic partnership roles.
Over on the UK App Store, Matt Jarvis has been hired as editor. Previously he was the editor-in-chief of Gamer Network’s Dicebreaker brand.
Huuuge Games: The developer and publisher has hired Jukka Hilvonen as senior product marketing manager. This comes on the way of close-to six years at Nitro Games, most recently as the company’s publishing director. Prior to that he has worked at the likes of Dazzle Rocks and Seepia Games.
Krafton: GamesMarkt reports that the PUBG giant has appointed Jin Oh as its chief global publishing officer. He has previously worked as CEO of Garena, the president of Riot Games’ esports business and MD of Blizzard. Most recently he has been working in investment, as a scout for Andreessen Horowitz and a partner in BitKraft Ventures.
Ubisoft: The French publishing giant has expanded Celine Pasula’s responsibilities. Previously Ubisoft RedLynx MD, she is now also production director for the company’s mobile and cross-platform output across Finland, Sweden and Romania. Pasula joined Redlynx back in 2021, having previous held senior roles as Fingersoft and co-founded Supernauts maker Grand Cru.
PlanetPlay: The environmental-focused group has announced its advisory board. The line-up features games industry veterans Niantic CEO John Hanke, Google Play’s Tamzin Taylor and Lockwood Publishing’s CEO Halli Bjornsson. Also joining the board are British peer Baroness Bryony Worthington, Gail Gallie of Project Everyone and impact lead Gi Fernando.
Unity: As we previously reported, Unity chief financial officer Luis Visoso has departed after two years, with Amazon vet Mark Barrysmith appointed as interim CFO until a replacement can be found.
Meanwhile, MoPub and Max cofounder Jim Payne has been hired as a chief product officer, and adtech veteran Alex Blum has landed the role of SVP of corporate development.
Raptor PR: The PR firm has hired Greg Cartwright and Claudio Carneiro in senior roles. Cartwright arrives as associate director with a wealth of experience from Unity, Ogilvy and Edelman, while Carneiro has been hired as a senior account manager, a fellow veteran of Ogilvy who has spent the last four years working at Square Enix.
Marauder Tech: Former NFL player Morgan Kane has founded a new mobile games studio. Marauder Tech has hired Activision and TruPlay veteran Joel Balyeat as its chief product officer.
Bluethrone: The app acquisition and growth firm has hired Josh Peleg as its new head of business development and M&A. He joins from Plarium, where he worked in biz dev.
Sensor Tower: Insights lead Lexi Sydow is departing the analytics giant for a role at supply chain firm Interos as its VP of marketing, insights and OCEO programs. Sydow joined Data.ai back when it was AppAnnie in 2015, and recently transitioned over to Sensor Tower after it acquired its main rival Data.ai in March of this year.
