No-unnecessary-travel advisory lifted in Lowville; state of emergency in effect

LOWVILLE, New York (WWNY) – Lowville police issued a no-unnecessary-travel advisory for the village for much of Monday morning.

It was lifted around 11:30 a.m.

Meanwhile, the mayor has declared a state of emergency.

It’s because heavy rains are causing high water and flooding streets.

Mayor Joseph Beagle issued the emergency declaration effective early Monday morning.

Officials say any resident who needs sand can go to the sewer treatment plant on East State Street.

There’s a flood warning in effect for Jefferson, Lewis, and Oswego counties until 2 p.m.
