Tech giant wants to bring jobs to Cherry Valley
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – The Village of Cherry Valley and tech giant Microsoft hosted an open house Monday night to talk to the community about their plans to open a data center in the village.
At the Tebala Event Center, the prospect of bringing dozens of high-paying tech jobs to the stateline was at the forefront of the conversation. The idea of bringing a Microsoft data center to the village was brought up about two months ago.
Five buildings are projected to be built with roughly 200 jobs.
Community members expressed their concerns for the project mentioning data centers use a lot of water and are very loud.
