Legendary Entertainment Confirms ‘Pacific Rim’ Prequel Series Is in the Works
Legendary Entertainment is officially developing a Pacific Rim prequel under Eric Heisserer’s first-look TV deal.
Variety has reported that under the deal, Heisserer is working with Carmen Lewis through their production company Chronology. With Chronology, they have signed a deal with Legendary Entertainment where they will “develop and shepherd IP-driven and related projects” for the studio. Amongst the first project to be publicized is the Pacific Rim origin story series.
In a statement Jason Clodfelter, president of Legendary Television said of Hersserer, “Eric is a multitalented, prolific creator whose track record of critical and commercial successes speaks for itself. We are thrilled to launch our partnership with Eric, Chronology, and Carmen, with a new entry in the epic, globally popular Pacific Rim universe. We are certain their vision will make for an enthralling expansion to Legendary’s beloved franchise.” Heisserer and Chronology had also recently set a first-look film deal at Sony Pictures.
Previously, within the Pacific Rim universe, Netflix has premiered two seasons of the Pacific Rim: The Black anime series between 2021 and 2022. The series came after the first film of the franchise in 2013 and the 2018 sequel Pacific Rim Uprising. The latest series from Legendary Entertainment has not yet received an official release date.
