The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is the next exciting chip in the smartphone market, and it will reportedly be used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This chip is expected to bring Qualcomm’s custom CPU cores named Oryon, offering a massive performance boost. A new leak sheds light on Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 specifications, helping us understand what we can expect from the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s performance.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 specifications include Oryon CPU cores, Adreno 8 GPU
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 might come in two slightly different variants: SM8750 (Standard) and SM8750P (Performance). SmartPrix posted a slide that reveals some features and specifications of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. The chip uses a 3nm process (likely from TSMC). It reportedly has an octa-core CPU with two high-performance cores clocked at 4GHz and six power-efficient cores running at 2.8GHz. Recent reports revealed that the new chip should offer 35% faster performance in single-core tests and 30% faster performance in multi-core tests.
The chip also features the Adreno 830 GPU, which could be Qualcomm’s fastest GPU ever.
Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chip has the new Spectra 8 series image signal processor (ISP) to handle the cameras. Qualcomm claims the new ISP offers “ultimate photography and videography experiences.” The Adreno 8 series VPU offers 4K video decoding and encoding. The Adreno DPU inside the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 supports a 4K resolution screen on the device and on an external display.
The Low-Power AI subsystem inside the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 has a dedicated DSP and eNPU for always-on audio, cameras, sensors, and contextual data streams for advanced features. The NPU also offers AI and Generative AI processing.
Qualcomm’s new chip also features a built-in 5G modem that supports mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G networks. The chip also has Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and UWB. It is compatible with on-package LPDDR5X DRAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Thanks to the Qualcomm Aqstic system, high-quality wireless audio is available.

Galaxy S25 Ultra performance expectations
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will likely be used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra globally, similar to how Samsung chose the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 For Galaxy to power the Galaxy S24 Ultra globally. The chip could be paired with up to 16GB RAM and 256GB/512GB/1TB storage.
It should offer 30-35% faster CPU performance, while the GPU should also offer major performance upgrades and support for AI-powered frame generation in games for higher frame rates.
The Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S25+ could use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in China, Canada, and the USA. In other countries, those phones could feature the Exynos 2500 chipset that Samsung officially named a few weeks ago. It is a 3nm chip fabricated by Samsung Foundry. It is also expected to bring major performance and power efficiency improvements.
