Carroll County businesses show support for sheriff’s office after deputy shot

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Businesses are offering support for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office after one of their deputies was critically injured in a shooting Tuesday morning.

“When things like this happen, it just hits my heart really hard. And I felt compelled to take them some food,” said Bill Green, the owner of Billy Bob’s Bar-B-Q.

Green is just one of the Carroll County residents who felt compelled to do something for the sheriff’s office after Investigator Taylor Bristow was shot while serving a warrant.

“The officers are going to gather over there, you know, they’re hugging on each other, they’re in a state of shock when things like this happen, and the last thing they’re thinking about is food, but they need to eat,” said Green.

Ashley Hulsey, public information officer for the sheriffs office, says they’ve had an outpouring of support from the community.

“We’ve had numerous restaurants this afternoon bring food over. You know, that’s what we do here in the South. When you need comfort, you get food,” said Ashley Hulsey.

Folks not just providing food, but signs of solidarity.

“People really love and really come out to support our local law enforcement,” said Hulsey.

“We love our first responders, our police officers, our firefighters, our paramedics. Every day they put their lives on the line for us,” said Green.
