Camilla becomes the first Queen to make historic fashion choice
Camilla has made a bold fashion statement after breaking tradition to be the first Queen to wear a particular clothing item.
The Queen was spotted in Ballater near Balmoral wearing jeans as she relaxed on holiday.
Styled by a Uniqlo puffer jacket, Camilla sported a pair of dark-wash jeans while out with family.
The “relaxed smart-casual look” has been hailed by fashion gurus as experts compliment the outfit as “not frumpy, heavy or traditional”.
Camilla is the first queen of the United Kingdom to wear jeans in public.
“She’s doing a relaxed smart-casual look,” personal stylist and fashion editor, Annabel Hodin told The Telegraph.
“You might think that everyone’s got a Uniqlo jacket but she’s chosen a subtly chic shade which is soft and flatters her colouring.
“It’s not frumpy, heavy or traditional, her look is a nod to modernity whilst also being an intelligent choice in the Scottish weather.”
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Queen Camilla wore jeans joining a ‘Clap for our carers’ in 2020
Queen Elizabeth is believed to have worn jeans on February 6 ,1952 as she was out enjoying a private safari holiday in Kenya.
However, she was not spotted by any members of the public.
It comes after the late monarch made headlines in 2003 when she left hospital following a knee operation in trousers.
One newspaper wrote that there was “an audible intake of breath” while another described it as “the equivalent of Prince Philip stepping out in a sarong”.
In 2020, Camilla posed casually on the steps of Birkhall
Camilla has previously been spotted wearing jeans before, becoming Queen Consort, at events including last year’s Braemar literary festival and on the steps of Birkhall in a pink shirt in 2020.
Fashion experts suggest that “Camilla looks agelessly elegant”.
Hodin believes that Camilla could have pushed the jeans further with the silhouette of her jeans.
“She could have gone wider and stiffer with her jeans to achieve a tailored effect, avoid anything too skinny, tight and instead look for styles which skim the body,” she added.
