Central East Maui boys eliminated from Little League World Series | Maui Now

The Central East Maui All-Stars suffered a slim 4-3 loss to Lake Mary Little League of Florida, the Southeast region representative on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, ending their World Series run in Williamsport, Pa. Florida moves on to play Nevada after the Mountain team was defeated 5-2 against Texas earlier in the day. The winner of Florida vs. Nevada will advance to the US Championship game on Saturday against Texas.

Whoever wins the US Championship title will play on Sunday in the World Series Championship game against the winner of the International Title.

In the series, the Maui boys had a 3-2 record including the following:

• 4-3 loss to Lake Mary Little League of Florida, the Southeast region representative on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024.
• 3-1 victory over Council Rock Newtown Little League of Pennsylvania, the Mid-Atlantic regional representative on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2024.
• 3-2 loss against Paseo Verde Little League of Henderson, Nevada, the Mountain regional team on Monday, Aug. 19, 2024.
• 5-0 victory against Hinsdale Little League of Illinois, the Great Lakes regional team on Friday, Aug. 16, 2024.
• 3-1 victory against Salem, NH, the New England regional team on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024.

The Maui 12U boys were just two wins away from making it into the US Championship game.

The Maui 12U boys secured their spot in the Little League World Series after winning the West Region title two weeks ago.  The 2024 Little League World Series, presented by T-Mobile, runs from Aug. 14 to 25 at Lamande Stadium.  Itʻs only the second time that a Maui team in the majors division has made it this far.  The last time was in 2019.

The Maui team is comprised of: Gauge Pacheco, Evan Tavares, Brextyn Hong, Kanon Nakama, Hayden Takahashi, Eassie Miller, Kellen Takamura, Cam Kaneshiro, Gabriel Laloulu, Kolten Magno, Matthew Yang, Kamalei Leynes-Santos and Jet Pontes.
