Seattle, Anchorage, and Juneau are among the top domestic destinations, with Alaska cruises particularly popular due to fewer crowds and the chance to see early fall colors. Paula Twidale, Senior Vice President of AAA Travel, notes that these cruises are sold out for the holiday weekend.
Domestic travel is up 9% compared to last year, while international travel, primarily to Europe, has decreased by 4%. AAA advises travelers to book early for next summer’s Alaska cruises and to consider using tools like Trip Canvas for planning.
Drivers should prepare for heavy traffic during peak times, with experts recommending early morning departures to avoid congestion.
