Darell Vern Richardson



Born on October 3rd 1947 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was glad to have grown up in Ripley, Oklahoma. He found the home of his heart when God led him to Ogden, Utah in 1980 and he fell in love with the Wasatch Mountains.

He was proud to have served his country in Vietnam where he contributed to the Tet Offensive, the rescue of surrounded marines at Khe Saghan, and the Ashau Valley campaign. He had deep convictions and carried with him a fierce love for his country.

Darell left this earth on August 19th 2024.

Preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jean Richardson, father, Vernon Emil Richardson, and grandson, Koby Wayne Richardson.

He left behind 4 children, Scott Richardson and wife Dana of Oklahoma, Becki Powell and husband David of Oklahoma, Adam Richardson and wife Leslie of Tennessee, and Betty Edwards and husband Ian of Ogden; sister Donna Jantzen of Oklahoma, brother Dennis Richardson Oklahoma, sister Diana Hicks and husband Don of Oklahoma, 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and a number of extended family and friends.

Darell was a family man who loved his children. He worked tirelessly to ensure that they had what they needed in life. He was soft-spoken but strong, the type of man that would bring in the homeless off the streets and share his home with them.

He was very proud of his prestigious work history. He was a loyal employee of GSL for over 35 years. During his tenure, he made himself invaluable to the company by providing dedicated service in systems administration. He was an electrician, an instrument technician, and a computer programmer. He pioneered the use of computers in the company and was instrumental in bringing GSL into the computer age.

A viewing was held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Friday, Aug. 23, 2024 at Evergreen Memorial Park at 1 p.m. with a viewing prior at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
