MLK Drive, East Blvd. closed Sunday for One World Day festival
CLEVELAND, Ohio — If you are driving on Cleveland’s East Side on Sunday and are not going to One World Day, it may be best to avoid the area altogether.
The free annual public festival closes down traffic on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and East Boulevard, from 7 a.m. through midnight.
One World Day, a festival celebrating Cleveland’s cultural heritage and diversity, occurs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Rockefeller Park in the Cleveland Cultural Gardens.
In addition to hosting the festival along the roads, One World Day’s Parade of Flags will march on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at noon.
Festival parking will be unavailable along these streets. Festival goers can find free parking in two main lots on either side of the Cleveland Cultural Gardens: Metroparks Parking at 8701 Lakeshore Lot to the north and the VA Hospital employee parking garage at 1606 E. 105th St. to the South.
Buses will be available from the VA employee parking lot to the Chinese Cultural Garden, to the south entrance of the gardens and along East Boulevard. They will begin at 9:40 a.m. and will continue looping until 6:30 p.m.
Trams will also be available to help visitors cross the length of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
