FKA Twigs Flaunts Her Eccentric Style on ‘The Crow’ Press Tour

FKA Twigs is no stranger to eccentric style, as evident by her past avant-garde red carpet looks. Her press tour for The Crow, however, has brought her looks to the next level—sometimes literally—with thigh-high platform boots, hair-embellished bags, and grungy makeup that extends into her hairline.

The star’s style switch-up comes with her own personal one. Up until now, Twigs has primarily focused on her music, save for her role in the 2019 film Honey Boy, and The Crow seems to be one of many movies she’s got lined up. “I’ve always known in my heart I was going to come back around to [acting],” she told Harper’s Bazaar in an interview this month. “ I feel like I’ve got a new lease for life in my artistry.”

That said, Twigs hasn’t given up on music—in fact, she recently held a listening party in New York City for her forthcoming album eusexua, singing to fans (including Julia Fox) in an edgy look. Twigs wore a dark brown faux-leather corset from Miaou, which she paired with a matching thong, made visible through a pair of sheer nude micro shorts. She covered up her legs with thigh-high brown leather boots (complete with huge squared-off platforms) and, in one arm, carried a small purse covered in luscious brunette locks.

The Caprisongs artist could be seen rocking her now-signature skullet hairstyle, which has become a mainstay throughout her recent looks. (For the uninitiated, a skullet is a more extreme version of a mullet that includes an almost fully shaved head, apart from the back.) The dramatic haircut is something few can pull off, but Twigs seems to with ease—especially with the help of special effects makeup artist Tilda Mace, who often decorates the singer’s shaved portion of her head with geometric makeup.

Earlier that day, Twigs arrived at SiriusXM Studios to further promote The Crow, although she opted for a more casual look in a white tank top, burgundy leather pants, and slouchy suede oxblood boots. Rather than the straightened hairstyle she showed off later, she wore her hair in a twisted updo with dreadlocks.

The night after her listening party, Twigs continued her edgy fashion streak at the New York City premiere of The Crow. She opted for inky elegance in a vintage black Giorgio Armani gown, which she put her own twist on by accessorizing with a silver headpiece that looked straight out of a sci-fi movie. The sharp head jewelry attached to Twigs’s head by way of three prongs, not unlike the talons of her movie’s titular bird.

Later in the night, she attended an after-party in a lacy, bustier-style minidress with a sash that trailed down her leg. Though she removed her statement headwear, she wore a smokey streak of black makeup down the center of her skull, and accessorized further with a large black leather cuff.

Less than 24 hours later, Twigs slipped into a gray set from Jade Cropper’s Fall 2024 collection, offering a cozier alternative to her lace and leather looks. The coordinating knit set incorporated a long-sleeved top with an asymmetrical neckline, as well as a maxi skirt with a leg-baring split. The artist accessorized with black alien-esque sunglasses from Numa, and added some glamour to the ensemble with a pair of diamond chandelier earrings.

A mere few hours later, she then changed back into her sky-high brown boots for an appearance on Good Morning America. She effortlessly matched the footwear with a coordinating brown leather set, which included a jacket and miniskirt from Celine’s Fall 2024 collection. Rectangular silver hoops finished off her monochromatic look.

And, not to waste any time, Twigs left Good Morning America in an entirely different outfit. A blend of loungewear and Dune-like fashion, she threw on another matching set. This one included a gray skirt with unfinished hems, as well as a layered gray long-sleeved top that covered up parts of her arms like a poncho. Thanks to a pair of bulky marbled gray boots that extended up her legs, only a sliver of her midriff remained exposed.

Then—presumably defying press tour exhaustion—Twigs wore another brown ensemble that same day, this time for an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! alongside her co-star Bill Skarsgård and co-host RuPaul. Her beige outfit consisted of a strapless midi dress with a thigh-high split, as well as some futuristic footwear. A mixture of boot, heel, and sandal, her shoes included a sheer, latex-like material that extended up to her knees and covered the footwear’s heels. The front of her foot was left exposed thanks to a bold cutout and clear PVC straps. Meanwhile, she kept her accessories simple, sporting a small brown leather cuff and wooden spiral earrings.

Between her segway back into acting and her lineup of head-turning looks, it feels Twigs is truly making this year hers. It’s a long time coming, too: On her 2022 track “meta angel,” the singer croons about “owning her shit” and having a “year of greatness.” Clearly, she’s manifested her success, and she’s fully leaning into her triumph.

This is just the beginning, though. “One day I’d love to do something where I can just kind of leave it all on the stage, as we say—push my different crafts to their maximum [for] an incredible project,” Twigs told Harper’s Bazaar. “I’ll probably have to make my own.”
