No team has played more games in Williamsport this year than the Lake Mary Little League. The team representing the Southeast Region has had a dogged schedule since losing to Texas last week. Yet, thanks to timely offense, they have carved their way to the championship game, even getting revenge on the team from the Southwest in the U.S. Championship on Saturday.
This is the ninth time a team from the Sunshine State has advanced to the LLBWS title game, and first since 2003. No Florida team has ever won it all.
Chinese Taipei has pushed its way through the International bracket, beating the likes of Japan and Venezuela to get to the championship game with an undefeated record. While the country formerly known has Taiwan used to dominate on the Little League stage years ago, no team from Chinese Taipei has won the title since 1996. They are trying to be the first undefeated champions since Honolulu won it all two years ago.
