Half-Life 3 Is “Real,” According To Reputable Valve Insider

Key Takeaways

  • More and more information about Half-Life 3 keeps surfacing, and this latest batch of rumors is highly compelling.
  • Insider Gabe Follower detailed research he’s compiled over the last three years that is seemingly accurate given that Deadlock has been officially acknowledged by Valve.
  • Among the insider’s research, a dynamic day/night and weather cycle are listed, as is an emphasis on gravity.

It’s that time of the year again, when supposed information about the long-rumored Half-Life 3 begins to surface online. Only this time, however, the information is seemingly more and more credible.

In the time leading up to today, it was unearthed that a voice actress named Natasha Chandel had listed a mysterious “Project White Sands” on her resume. That project was categorized as a video game by Valve, with White Sands being a real-life place in New Mexico, similar to Black Mesa.

Then, it was pinpointed that Valve was attempting to cover its tracks by changing the internal designations of file names. For example, source code referencing the HEV suit was switched to “Burbank Suit.”

Moving right along, with Valve officially acknowledging Deadlock, insider Gabe Follower released his research involving Half-Life 3. In a new video, he detailed the information that he’s been compiling over the last three years, and it’s compelling.

The Half-Life 3 Hype Train Is At Full Speed

The video is well worth a watch, especially considering the level of research that was put in, but the gist of it is this: With Valve officially recognizing Deadlock, any previous info surrounding Half-Life 3 is likely accurate.

Among that info is that gravity will seemingly play a key role in the game, and that there will potentially be XEN Gorillas who have been zombified or modified in some way. Elsewhere, a dynamic day and night cycle has also been unearthed in available code, with the potential for weather effects, including rain or fog.

Finally, Gabe Follower surmises that Valve is attempting to create some sort of elaborate world with smart NPCs to go along with multiple vehicle options with different behaviors built in.

Of course, these are just conjectures, however, the reserach behind them is sound. Hopefully, with Deadlock officially confirmed, Valve can do the same for Half-Life 3 at some point. We’ve waited this long, but with information like this, the wait becomes that much harder.
