Rockford business helps stop slow job market

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Looking for a new job can be stressful, exciting and exhausting. Employees at Spherion staffing services help combat this.

The company works with job seekers every day. On Aug 22. they opened a new location off Perryville Road and Crimson Ridge Drive. Resources like Spherion want to help people find employment.

Spherion Branch Manager Courtney Vossekuil says, “We are local to our communities, so our owner owns the Madison location and the Rockford location, so we service southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. We specialize in solutions that tailor to our clients and prospective clients.”

The Department of Labor says over the 12 months ending in March the job market lost 818,000 jobs.

The change means that 2.1 million jobs were created in the U.S. in the past year. This compares to the 2.9 million prior. The new figures do not represent job losses but new estimates of jobs that were actually created during the period.

President of Spherion Austin Kassner says, “Coming out of the pandemic we saw a huge surge in hiring. There was a record number of folks who changed jobs and switched jobs they referred to as the great reshuffling or resignation. What we are seeing now is that it is slowing across the board.”

Manufacturing, non-clinical healthcare, and administrative industries are the most popular industries right now. Other in demand jobs include data analysis’s, cyber security experts and digital marketing professionals.
