Higgens has invested in several startups. Right now, he says the “private markets are still seized up.” His advice for investors seeking capital is to “return to basics,” by building a business you can demonstrate can be profitable.

Higgins believes the top traits in an entrepreneur is: “It’s somebody who I believe will pivot. When you present a deck, five years later, the business you build has nothing to do with that deck. Barely resembles it. And if it does, you probably have a problem. I’m looking for somebody who can demonstrate they have the self-awareness to make course corrections, right? Things aren’t working, and they have the confidence and humility to acknowledge it.”
