Guitarist’s injury forces popular 1980s hard rock band to cancel shows

The Scorpions, a hard rock band known for hits like “Rock You Like a Hurricane” and “Winds of Change,” canceled five upcoming European shows after the band’s guitarist got injured.

“The Scorpions are forced to cancel all upcoming German tour dates in September 2024 due to an injury sustained by Matthias Jabs,” the band wrote in a statement on their website. “Matthias Jabs’ injury requires surgery and subsequent rehabilitation.”

There was no further information on the website about the extent of Jabs’ injury.

The shows were scheduled from Sept. 7-20 in Nuremberg, Hamburg, Leipzig, Cologne and Frankfurt.

The shows were part of Scorpion’s final stretch of their “Love At First Sting” world tour.

“We deeply regret, especially Matthias Jabs, that due to the accident of our friend and Scorpions lead guitarist, the five concerts on our German tour cannot take place in September as planned and we will work closely with the tour organizer to announce new information as soon as possible,” the band said in a joint statement. “We kindly ask for your understanding from all our fans, all the Rock Believers in Germany who were looking forward to the shows with us.”

The band said ticket holders should receive information about refunds directly from their point of purchase.
