Boonville among schools adjusting sports practice due to heat
BOONVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Many schools are adjusting their athletic schedules because of the heat.
Boonville High School has moved all outdoor practices to start at 6 p.m.
They also delayed girls soccer games to avoid starting in the heat of the day.

Athletic director Kevin Davis says they have resources that guide them when making decisions for athletes.
“We try to use all that information, make the best decision for athletes, and if we’ve got to cancel or move things we will, but we want to keep everybody safe and sound the best we can,” said Davis.
Davis said the school’s new turf field will also help athletes stay cool during games.
It’s made out of coconut and cork, instead of the black rubber pellets. That prevents the field from adding extra heat.
