Maverick Entertainment Group Expanding Operations to the U.K. – Media Play News

Maverick Entertainment Group, the South Florida-based indie movie producer and digital and packaged media distributor, is expanding operations to the United Kingdom.

Founder Doug Schwab, in an Aug. 29 Facebook post, said “Maverick Movies” would be setting up operations in London targeting upcoming filmmakers.

“After 27 years of successfully building strong partnerships with a solid customer base distributing films across the United States and Canada, it may be time to expand our presence,” Schwab wrote in the post.

He said the move would open new opportunities for U.K. filmmakers, using a strategy he has employed in the U.S. targeting niche independent and Black cinema content. Since launching in 1997, Maverick has released more than 1,300 movies. In addition to funding and producing originals, the company releases more than 100 movies a year through digital and physical formats.

“Stay tune for updates coming soon as details develop,” Schwab wrote.
