EmRata rocks the summer’s most viral shade at Venice Film Festival

As we all know, the past few months have seen one trend reign supreme: brat summer. Inspired by Charli XCX‘s album Brat, the mood is simple: late nights, hungover mornings and texting exes. It’s embracing your chaotic, messy side and hiding out at the club.

Sartorially, it draws on aughts fashion (specifically those after-hours paparazzi photos of celebs like Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Kim Kardashian before the curated feeds of Instagram took off) and the vibey, DIY energy of the music genres and countercultural movements from East London and Brooklyn that would go onto inspire indie sleaze. As Cosmo UK‘s own Alexandria Dale explained it, the look can be summed up as: “low waists, high hemlines, and white tank tops with no bra.”

But one micro-trend which epitomises brat summer? The slime green shade on the sleeve of Charli’s album. Deliberately eye-catching and unpalatable, the unusual colour is now everywhere. In fact, we couldn’t help but notice that the shade even made its way to the Venice Film Festival red carpet!

While attending the 81st Venice International Film Festival, model Emily Ratajkowski rocked a brat green vintage gown from Tom Ford’s 2004/2005 Autumn/Winter collection at Gucci. The plunging dress featured fringing towards the hem and sheer accents at the bust and was paired with jewellery by Pasquale Bruni.

This isn’t the first time that EmRata has stepped out in archival fan. In recent years, she’s proved herself to be a major vintage fashion fan, rocking a red version of the iconic khaki Dior mini dress worn by Beyoncé in the ‘Crazy in Love’ video.

Vintage fashion? Soooo brat.
