Dr. Jill Biden Kicks Off New York Fashion Week at the Ralph Lauren Show

Earlier this evening, the fashion set—and a crew of A-list celebrities—kicked off New York Fashion Week with a quick jaunt to the Hamptons in New York. (Some traveling by car; other VIPs by helicopter.) The spring 2025 show gathered quite the crowd in the front row, including names such as Usher, Kacey Musgraves, Jude Law, Tom Hiddleston, and Joey King—to name a few. Also in attendance? First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, who took time away from her busy pre-election schedule to support one of the most beloved American designers (not to mention one of her most-worn labels).

Dr. Biden—who attended the presentation with Finnegan Biden, Hunter Biden’s daughter—mingled with guests shortly before the runway show began, including posing for photos with Usher. For the affair, the First Lady chose a classic black two-piece suit (presumably by Ralph Lauren) with a square neckline and buttoned closure. She accented the look with an oversized crystal brooch and simple black pumps.

The streamlined ensemble was a signature look from the First Lady, who tends to gravitate towards solid colors and clean, minimal designs. During her time in office, Biden has routinely worn Ralph Lauren for her various appearances, including at the White House State Dinner with the Indian prime minister Narendra Modi last year (then, she chose an off-the-shoulder sequined gown). Tonight, Biden showed her support for Lauren once again, proving she continues to use fashion as a form of patriotism—highlighting and championing American-born talent through her timeless fashion choices.
