Longville fitness instructor to host strength training for seniors

LONGVILLE — Katie Daudt, Longville fitness center owner, will do a presentation on how resistance training and exercise benefit older men and women at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Salem Lutheran Church in Longville.

Meet and greet with refreshments is at 6 p.m.

Titled “Make the Most of Every Day: The Benefits of Exercise for Seniors,” Daudt’s presentation will include discussion and demonstrations of various body weight and weight-bearing exercises that strengthen muscles and the effect they have on osteoporosis.

Daudt will emphasize the benefits of strength training and exercise on mental health, including decreasing stress, anxiety and depression, enhancing sleep, decreasing fall risk, independence and overall physical health.

At the conclusion of the presentation, Daudt will invite attendees to tour her fitness center, Empowered Fitness in Longville, just a short distance from Salem.

Salem Lutheran Church is located at 1340 County Road 5 in Longville.

Daudt’s presentation is free and open to men and women in the community and is sponsored by Salem’s men’s fellowship ministry.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “Pineandlakes Echo Journal.” Often, the “Pineandlakes Echo Journal” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
