Check Out ‘Dystopian’ Kamala Harris Party At New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week is supposed to host the most beautiful and glamorous people in the world. This year, Kamala HQ turned it into a freak show.

A TikTok influencer named Lyas went viral this weekend after he gave a tour through what he called the “dystopian” Kamala Harris party at NYFW. Apparently, a foreigner in town for the week’s events, he titled the video simply: AMERICA IS INSANEEE.

That it is.

The video shows a projector screen flashing “ABORTION RIGHTS ARE HOT,” a Jenga game that comes crashing down as you pull Republican policies, Kamala-themed Kocktails and a host of politically inspired carnival games. It’s all a bit on the nose for people whose literal job it is to have good taste.

“Dystopian” is putting it lightly: not everything has to be imbued with politics, and in a healthy society, it isn’t. Sure, the fashion and art world inherently skews to the Left; it always did. But no matter what industry we’re talking about, a healthy private sphere of interest should be able to exist on its own terms without catering to lazy partisan talking points.

Has the fashion world simply run out of ideas? Or has our broader culture just become so stunted and myopic that even so-called tastemakers no longer have the vision to see beyond the nearest horizon?

Either way, there’s something deeply wrong when pop culture, fashion, art and stuffy party politics all blend into one. The people who are meant to be the most edgy, creative and artistically inclined are now among the most conformist.
