Follow the Red Sox to the World Series in The Comeback: 2004 Boston Red Sox

Everyone loves a good comeback. In 2004, nothing could stop the Boston Red Sox — not the infamous “Curse of the Bambino” and certainly not their rivals, the New York Yankees. The documentary series The Comeback: 2004 Boston Red Soxannounced earlier this year, tells the story of one of the greatest resurgences in sports history, following the Boston Red Sox to their first World Series victory after an 86-year drought.

The three-episode series features exclusive interviews with players, including Pedro Martinez, David Ortiz, and Kevin Millar, as well as the team’s former manager Terry Francona, former general manager and vice president Theo Epstein, and many others who made the 2004 win possible.

Premiering on Oct. 23, The Comeback celebrates the 20th anniversary of the team’s groundbreaking postseason run, when the Red Sox came back from 3–0 in the playoffs against the Yankees before sweeping the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series. Since then, the Red Sox have won three more championships, making them the team with the most titles since the turn of the millennium. Baseball fans can also look forward to an in-depth look at the team’s iconic feud with the Yankees, on and off the field.

Directed by Colin Barnicle, The Comeback: 2004 Boston Red Sox is produced by Meadowlark Media and Barnicle Brothers in association with MLB. Executive producers include, Nick Barnicle, Colin Barnicle, John Skipper, Deirdre Fenton, Howard Bryant, Melody Shafir, Nick Davis, and Nick Trotta.
