Who was the top high school sports performer of the week?
The fall season is in full swing now in high school sports with all sports seeing action.
This week saw some incredible performances from a lot of Holland-area athletes in a lot of different sports.
Who had the best performance? Vote for the top athlete of the week. Voting will go until noon Friday each week.
Here is a little more about each candidate:
Brooke Petroelje, Hamilton volleyball
The sophomore dished out 39 assists and served up thre aces in a sweep of Zeeland East in a battle of two of the better area teams.
Floyd Webb, Holland tennis
The No. 1 singles player defeated Hamilton’s Seth Lappinga 6-3, 6-1 in a battle of two of the area’s best players.
Dylan Loew, Hamilton tennis
At No. 2 singles held off Holland’s Ethan Byrd in a stellar three-set match including two of the area’s top players.
Cris Mora, West Ottawa soccer
Scored a goal in a 3-1 win over Wyoming Kelloggsville as the Panthers improved to 3-1-1 to start the season.
Dante Holley, Saugatuck soccer
Scored four goals in a 7-0 win over Libertas Christian for the Trailblazers.
Angel Villalobos, Fennville soccer
Scored three goals in an 8-0 win over Lawton, then added two more in a tie later in the week to give him five goals in two games.
Lizzie Risdon, Zeeland East volleyball
Totaled 24 kills in three matches, all against some of the top volleyball teams in West Michigan.
Eve Kasten, Zeeland West golf
Kasten shot a 41 to finish second in the OK Black Jamboree at Diamond Springs.
Helen Sachs, West Ottawa cross country
Won the West Ottawa Bredeweg Invite to lead the Panthers to the team title.
Will Engbers, Holland Christian cross country
The Maroons runner won the Bredeweg Invite at West Ottawa on Saturday, leading the Maroons to the boys team title.
