COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team (3-2) opens its 2024 home schedule with the Sports Imports Classic this weekend.
 
On Friday, Buffalo and Wright State will play at 4 p.m. and Ohio State will face No. 20 Miami (FL) at 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear black for Friday night’s match to celebrate the Buckeyes’ new court.
 
On Saturday, Wright State and No. 20 Miami (FL) will begin the day’s slate at 2 p.m. The Buckeyes will play Buffalo at 5 p.m.
 
On Sunday, Buffalo and No. 20 Miami (FL) will play at 11 a.m. and Ohio State and Wright State will wrap up the weekend at 2 p.m. A prematch block party is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., weather permitting, and will feature food trucks, face painting, balloon twisting, a live DJ, inflatables and more. A postmatch meet-and-greet with the Buckeyes is scheduled to take place on the concourse. 
 
All six matches will be broadcast live on B1G+. Parking is free for all matches in the Buckeye lots across the street.

  • Ohio State went 1-2 last weekend at the Florida Invitational, beating USI (25-12, 20-25, 25-17, 26-24) before losing to USF (25-18, 21-25, 25-19, 18-25, 12-15) and No. 10 Florida (25-20, 20-25, 23-25, 21-25). Emily Londot and Rylee Rader were named All-Tournament Team.
  • Londot moved up to third in program history in career kills on Friday and recorded her 2,000th career point on Saturday. She led all three matches in kills, averaging 4.69 kills/set on the weekend.
  • Reese Wuebker totaled a career-high seven kills on Sunday against No. 10 Florida.
  • No. 20 Miami (FL) visits Columbus with an undefeated 5-0 record after beating then No. 1 Texas in five sets (19-25, 17-25, 26-24, 25-18, 15-11) on the road for Jose ‘Keno’ Gandara’s 200th career win and the highest ranked win in program history.
  • The ‘Canes also hold wins over Rutgers, Colorado, UNI and Indiana this season.
  • The teams’ lone meeting in the series occurred on Sept. 14, 1981. The Buckeyes won both sets (15-5, 15-12) at a neutral site.
  • Buffalo enters the weekend with a 3-4 record. The Bulls swept their tournament on opening weekend, beating Oakland, Hampton and Army.
  • Buffalo’s first loss of the season was at the hands of then No. 3 Pitt. The Bulls lost a trio of four-setters to Stony Brook, Colgate and UConn this past weekend.
  • This will be the first meeting between Ohio State and Buffalo during the Jen Flynn Oldenburg era. The teams met only once before – Sept. 21, 2014. The Buckeyes earned a sweep (25-13, 25-14, 25-16) in that match in Buffalo.
  • Wright State begins the Sports Imports Classic with a 4-2 record, also sweeping their opening weekend schedule with sweeps over App State, Xavier and Ohio.
  • The Raiders fell to the No. 22 Dayton and Bowling Green last weekend but earned a sweep against UMBC.
  • Ohio State leads the all-time series 9-1 against Wright State and has the 3-1 advantage in Columbus.
  • The teams most recently played in Columbus on Aug. 31, 1991 when the Buckeyes earned a sweep (15-6, 15-7, 15-8).
  • Ohio State and Wright State last played on Sept. 4, 2001 with the Buckeyes winning in three sets (30-23, 30-24, 30-12) in Dayton.
