The Chelan Girls soccer team traveled to the westside of the state to take on the Tenino Beavers in a non-league friendly. The Goats used this trip to have a team building experience camping in a big open field. For many of the girls it was there first time setting up a tent and camping. The experience brought all the players closer together.

Saturday, the Goats came out hard in their first match of the season. It was a back-and-forth battle for the first 20 minutes of the game. An unfortunate non-call of a blatant hand ball in the box allowed the Beavers to counter and put their first goal in the back of the net. If the call had been made it could have changed the momentum of the game. The Goats continued to hold the Beavers the rest of the first half, ending the half at 1-0 Beavers.

With the second half on its way the Goats and Beavers continued to battle in a back-and-forth contest. However, the Beavers and were able to get two more goals in the second half. Due to disciplinary issues the Beavers coaching staff benched two of their best players in the first half. With those two players in the second half, it gave the Beavers the extra spark they needed to get the two goals.

However, with 5 minutes to play Sophomore Madeline Cowan was able to sneak one past the Tenino keeper. Giving the Goats their first goal of the season. Junior keeper Avari Barker made numerous spectacular saves. With a new group in front of her Freshman Reeghan Lake, Freshman Denali Corrigan, Junior Lelani Avail and Junior Reagan Puryear are learning to communicate as a unit. They will continue to learn and grow as they progress this season.

With 8 seniors graduating last year the Goats are a young team with four freshmen starting The Freshman have been eager to learn and work hard no matter what is asked of them. Even with the score not being in the Goats favor, they grew and learned tremendously in their first match.

The Goats will have their first home conference game on Thursday September 12 vs. the Omak Pioneers. First touch is at 4:30PM Come out and support the Goats!!!
