‘Emily in Paris’ Star Ashley Park Talks Taking the Show to Italy, Her Go-to Travel Products, and More
Filming every day around Paris sounds like a gig that would be hard to beat — until you go to Italy.
“It was my favorite part of filming this season,” Emily in Paris star Ashley Park recently told Travel + Leisure ahead of the show’s part two premiere of its current season.“We were filming in the winter in Paris, and as soon as we got to Italy, it felt like, we were finally in beautiful summer and a slowed-down lifestyle. It was a really lovely atmosphere and vibes [and] I think it’ll be conveyed in the in the show”
The second part of this season, takes the cast of the Netflix show — which includes Lily Collins — to Rome where they were treated to a new backdrop, new cuisine, and of course, new beverages.
“At the end of every day after we wrapped everybody would stay in whatever location we were in and have an Aperol Spritz,” Park told T+L.
The iconic Italian drink became a part of her daily routine while filming — as well as a lot of pasta — after she was done with work for the day, she told T+L.
“It was my Italian time of the ‘A’ foods, I would joke,” she recalled. “I always had to have the Roman artichokes and then an Aperol Spritz at every place whether I was getting pasta or whatever that was that I had to start with.”
And in what now seems like a perfect pair, Park also teamed up with the apertivo brand, Aperol, as it made its return as an official partner to the US Open this year with its Tennis Capsule Collection inspired by the buzzy beverage.

Do you prefer French food or Italian food?
Am I going to get canceled? I mean I love Italian food. It depends! If I’m eating with my boyfriend [Paul], it’s whatever has the best options, [because] he’s Celiac,
Go-to skincare or beauty products for travel?
I always have a sheet mask with me. I always have my gua sha and my FaceGymPro. I love U Beauty products I always have their lip plasma compound. I’m so obsessed with water these days, especially when traveling in Europe. Whenever I’ve been traveling in Europe, I’ve found I go through so many water bottles, so now I just carry a Stanley with me wherever I go, like, one of those huge ones. They’re big, but I feel so hydrated! I carry that in my carry-on now and I fill it as soon as I get through security.
Hidden Gem neighborhood or coffee shop in Paris?
I always go to Loulou for coffee. They have a beautiful terrace that you can see the Eiffel Tower from. I love Café Charlot. It’s just a perfect French bistro, and a lot of us lived in that area of Le Marais for a couple of seasons. My favorite sandwich in Paris is Chez Alain Miam Miam. It’s this hot sandwich with the perfect recipe.
Aisle or window seat?
It depends on how long it is and if I need to pee a lot, but I always love a window seat. As long as it’s next to Paul, I’m fine.
Must-have item on a plane?
It depends on what I’m doing on the flight. Headphones for sure. I always have to have Osea nerve oil on my temples and my hands before take off.
As a result of taking ‘Emily’ out of Paris, Park who plays her bestie, Mindy Chen, got to do some extra exploring off camera with her boyfriend Paul Forman, who also plays her onscreen love interest, Nicolas de Léon.
“We went to the Liguria area and explored a little,” she said. “I always loved Positano, [and] all the parts of Italy. While we were filming, I liked exploring the city of Rome in my off time.”
Park also told us she ventured to London with Collins and her husband Charlie McDowell.
As for what country she would like Emily in Paris to take her to next?
“I’m not very high maintenance,” she told T+L. “I for sure, do not want to go somewhere cold. I do not want to film this show in winter. I want to make sure everyone hears me. I would like it to be the Italian lifestyle summer. Thank you.”
