Gosport Manufacturing acquired by Philadelphia company – Inside INdiana Business

Gosport Manufacturing, which makes tarps and other industrial textiles, has been acquired by Philadelphia-based manufacturer D.C. Humphrys. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.

Humphrys produces a variety of textile products, including tarps, military covers, and PVC-coated fabrics, according to the company’s website.

Gosport Manufacturing was founded in 1944 by the King family, with Joseph King leading the charge for the past 50 years. The acquisition follows Kings retirement, and Humphrys said the deal will allow the company to continue manufacturing in Gosport with no disruption to the workforce.

“Our decision to acquire Gosport Manufacturing was driven by our respect for the business Joseph and his family have built,” Humphrys CEO Ron Nissenbaum said in the release. “Gosport’s expertise aligns closely with ours, making this a natural fit. Keeping the business in Gosport and providing stability and continuity for the current employees was a priority in the acquisition.”

It was not immediately clear how many employees work at the Gosport facility. A request for more information from Inside INdiana Business was not returned.

Humphrys said it aims to start producing some of its athletic covers products–such as gym floor covers and wall mats, field covers and printed banners–at the Gosport facility.

The company said the combined resources of both entities are expected to open new avenues for business expansion.
