London-based Global launched a dozen new stations on Sept. 12, 2024, adding new brand extensions for its Classic, Heart, Radio X, and Smooth channels.

The company referred to the event as “the biggest single launch in UK radio history.” The new channels are available on DAB and the Global Player app, as well as via the web, smart speakers, and smart TVs.

The full line up includes Capital Anthems, a greatest hits station focused on music Capital helped make radio hits; Classic FM Calm and Classic FM Movies — the first sister stations for Classical FM; Heart Love and Heart Musicals, as well as a new decades station, Heart 10s; Smooth Soul and two decades stations, Smooth 70s and Smooth 80s; Radio X Chilled and decades stations Radio X 90s and Radio X 00s.

On your radio, Smooth 80s and Capital Anthems will be available nationally on the D2 DAB multiplex. Classic FM Movies will be available in London on the London 1 DAB multiplex with all the remaining stations on the London 3 multiplex.

“These new radio stations are unique and distinctive, and perfectly complement each radio brand,” stated Global Chief Broadcasting and Content Officer James Rea. “From Heart’s non-stop love songs to the anthems Capital made famous and the world’s greatest film music on Classic FM – there really is something for everyone, for every mood, for every moment.”

The launch came after the company teased “12 on the 12th” across its social media and other platforms.

“The scale of our ambition is to deliver more top quality radio and audio for our listeners than anyone else. A huge thank you to every globaller who has worked so hard on this huge number of new stations launching today,” stated Global founder and Executive President Ashley Tabor-King CBE. “We’ve spent a long time crafting them and it’s wonderful to see them all go live.”
