Punxsy Woman Banned from Shopping at Walmart Faces Trespassing Charge

YOUNG TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Punxsutawney woman who was banned from shopping at the Young Township Walmart a year ago is facing a trespassing charge after she was recently seen on the store’s video surveillance.

According to court records, Punxsutawney-based State Police filed criminal charges against 35-year-old Amanda Leeann Edwards, of Punxsutawney, in District Judge Jacqueline Mizerock’s office on September 9.

According to a criminal complaint, PSP Punxsutawney were dispatched to Walmart on State Route 119, in Young Township, Jefferson County, for a trespass that occurred on August 5, 2024.

Police were informed that Amanda Edwards was observed on video surveillance entering the store around 5:22 p.m. and shopped around with an unknown female until they entered the self-checkout around 5:25 p.m. and began scanning items. Edwards was observed paying with coins before exiting the store, the complaint states.

Walmart provided police with a copy of the written trespass to Edwards, which was dated September 15, 2023, and was signed by Edwards, the complaint indicates.

Troopers arrived at Edwards’ residence and observed a pickup truck that was seen on video surveillance. She first denied ever being at Walmart; however, she admitted to being at the store when she was confronted, the complaint notes.

Edwards said she purchased milk and cheese and denied stealing anything, and that she went for groceries, the complaint continues.

According to the complaint, she also related she was on adult probation with Jefferson County.

PSP Punxsutawney contacted Jefferson County Probation, who relayed to take custody of Edwards based on the incident. Edwards was then transported to the Jefferson County Jail, the complaint states.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 10, at 10:00 a.m. with Judge Mizerock presiding.
