Nearly a year into Israel’s ongoing military offensive in Gaza, backed by the U.S., pro-Palestine demonstrators are continuing to use awards shows to call for a ceasefire and call out the U.S. government’s support for Israel. A handful of protesters have been outside the Emmys red carpet Sunday, according to this video from Variety.

Meanwhile on the red carpet, some Emmys attendees, including “Bridgerton” star Nicola Coughlan and “Reservation Dogs” star Devery Jacobs, have been seen showing their support for Palestine by wearing a red pin from the group Artists 4 Ceasefire. Throughout the year, some stars have been wearing the pins on various red carpets.

During the ceremony itself, it’ll be interesting to see if anyone addresses the issue on stage. However, judging from previous award shows, where stars have largely been silent on Palestine, if any presenters or winners bring up politics at all tonight, we’re more likely to hear anodyne statements about peace or the importance of voting in November’s election. — Marina Fang
