Apple to Hold Another Event ‘In the Coming Weeks’ to Launch M4 Macs [Gurman]

Apple is preparing to hold another special event ‘in the coming weeks’ to launch new M4 Macs, according to a new report from Mark Gurman. Additionally, new lower-end iPads (iPad 11, iPad mini) could be unveiled at the event.

With the iPhone 16 launch event now in the rearview mirror, Apple is preparing for its next event, likely to be held in the coming weeks. The main topic: the company’s first Macs with AI-focused M4 chips and Apple Intelligence. New, lower-end iPads also are likely to be unveiled at the event, as I reported this month.

Here’s a list of the new Mac models Gurman anticipates we’ll see at the event…

● J604: Low-end 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro
J614 and J616: High-end 14-inch and 16-inch M4 MacBook Pros (M4 Pro and M4 Max options)
J623: M4 iMac
J773: Smaller Mac mini with M4 and M4 Pro chip options

Some of these Macs have allegedly begun shipping in advance of the event and could be launched already; however, Apple is expected to hold everything back so the high-end MacBook Pro and new Mac mini can ship at the same time.

After this round of initial Mac updates, Apple is expected to finish upgrading its lineup to M4 in 2025. The new MacBook Airs (J713 and J715) will likely debut in the first quarter of 2025, followed by a new M4 Mac Studio (J575) in mid-2025, and new M4 Mac Pro (J704) by the end of 2025.
