MSU volleyball wins one, drops two and ties one

The Minot State University (MSU) volleyball team faced two teams on Friday and two teams on Saturday, September 14, as part of the homecoming week of activities.

MSU faced Medicine Hat on Friday in an exhibition game that was recorded as a tie. The University of Jamestown was the next opponent on Friday and beat the Beavers 25-22, 25-9 and 25-21 for the 3-0 win to end the day.

Saturday morning, Brandon University tackled MSU in a competitive match that the hosting Beavers scored 25-16, 24-26, 26-24 and 15-10 for MSU who won 3-2 over the Bobcats. Mayville State University was the fourth team faced in the two days with the Comets scored 25-23, 25-17, 18-25 and 25-20 for the win 3-1 over the hosting Beavers.

In the one win over Brandon University Bobcats, MSU was led by senior Bailee Brommenschenkel (10), junior Paulina Kowalska (9) and graduate Maddy Boop (7) in kills. Brommenschenkel also led the team in aces with four and blocks with four. MSU juniorEmily Barker had 20 assists for the Beavers while redshirt freshman Kelci Madrid tallied 16 digs for the team.

The MSU ladies will play on Friday, September 20, and Saturday, September 21, when the Beavers host Southwest Minnesota State University and Augustana University respectively at the MSU Dome.
