At 67, Denise Austin Shares Her ‘Number 1 Secret to Healthy Aging’

At 67, Denise Austin seems to have mastered the art of inspiring women of all ages by constantly sharing her top wellness tips and workout advice. The longtime fitness instructor, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit star, and author is busier than ever connecting with and motivating her fans. Now, Austin wants to let everyone know that “healthy aging” is possible for all—and is sharing exactly how to “embrace” getting older.
The star recently posted on Instagram to share her top tip for aging healthfully: Staying active.
“I often get asked questions about aging…and I LOVE it because it’s something that we ALL go through! Every single one of us is aging every day…so why not make the most of it!” she captioned the post. “We have the power to truly embrace aging and live life to the fullest every day! One of the BEST ways to promote healthy aging is to move your body every day.”
She elaborates on exactly why that is in her latest blog post titled “My Number One Secret to Healthy Aging.” In the post, she explains that “movement is key” to staying healthy as we age and recommends everyone add some activity to their daily routine. Why? According to Austin, daily movement can help decrease your risk of disease, boost your mood, and improve sleep.
“Whether it’s a strength training workout, yoga, or just a walk,” Austin explains “movement is what counts…and consistency is key!” She’s right—one study previously found that just an extra 20 minutes of daily physical activity can prevent hospitalization and reduce the risk of several conditions including type 2 diabetes, ischemic stroke, pneumonia, and more.
Austin’s fans appreciated her motivational words. “You are my inspiration! I watched you when I was much younger and you are a ray of sunshine! Thank you for all the encouragement, especially at the age we are now!” one fan commented on her Instagram post. “I love your positivity. You are such an inspiration to me. Thank you ❤️,” another wrote.
