Tanya Tucker to headline Longhorn City Limits on Saturday
AUSTIN, Texas — Country music icon Tanya Tucker will be back in the Live Music Capital of the World this weekend. The Grammy winner will take the stage at Longhorn City Limits on the LBJ Lawn on Saturday.
The free, on-campus concert presented by Still Austin Whiskey Co. will start before the No. 1 Texas Longhorns face the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium.
Tucker is no stranger to Austin. Known for her popular hits “Delta Dawn,” “Would You Lay With Me,” and “Blood Red and Goin’ Down,” she performed in front of a Texas crowd twice in 2023, at Georgetown’s Two Step Inn Music Festival and the Austin City Limits Music Festival. In 2021, Tucker was nominated for Best Country Artist at the Austin Music Awards.
“It’s so exciting welcoming country royalty Tanya Tucker to the Forty Acres and Longhorn City Limits,” said Chris Del Conte, vice president and Folger Family Athletics director. “Longhorn Nation can look forward to a memorable night on the LBJ Lawn celebrating her incredible legacy before another fantastic Texas Football gameday.”
Longhorn City Limits has welcomed a wide variety of artists so far this season, including Dripping Springs-based country band Midland and rising indie rockers and UT students, West 22nd.
Prior to the 7 p.m. kickoff time at DKR Stadium, students 21 and over can enjoy beverages at the Still Austin Music Lounge. The Tito’s Tailgate is also making its return to Longhorn City Limits in front of the LBJ Fountain and Pinkerton’s BBQ will be served on the lawn.
Before Country Music Hall of Fame inductee takes the stage, the concert will kick off with opening act and native Texan Kathryn Legendre at 3:30 p.m. Tucker’s set begins at 5 p.m.
