Apple has made various changes in the iPhone 16 lineup this year, and the bigger battery capacity is one of the most prominent additions. The company states that the iPhone 16 Pro models feature the best battery life on any iPhone, but it remains to be seen how the device compares to the previous variants and its arch-rival, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, in a new battery life test.

A YouTuber has conducted a battery life test of the entire iPhone 16 lineup against last year’s iPhone 15 lineup, and just for fun, the YouTuber also placed the Galaxy S24 Ultra alongside the iPhones to see how far Apple has come in the battery life game against its competition. The results were kind of surprising in one respect while not so surprising in the other.

Arun Maini from the YouTube channel Mrwhosetheboss conducted a thorough test that took various aspects of our daily lives, including social media consumption, and from our point of view, the battery life test of the iPhone 16 is as close to reality as it can be. All iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models were fully charged to 100 percent before the test, including the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

As you can see in the battery life test, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models started strong. The smaller iPhone 16 surprisingly took the first spot in initial health app test, showing the most battery out of the bunch. However, Arun mentions that the software of the iPhone sometimes shows more battery percentage than the actual battery left in the device.

Overtime, we can see that the iPhone 16 Pro Max and the Galaxy S24 Ultra were neck to neck in the entire battery life test, but the Galaxy-branded flagship soon took the lead and then held its ground until its last breath. The iPhone 15 Plus featured the best battery life on any iPhone last year and it is an interesting test to see how the latest iPhone 16 Plus compares to the rest of the lineup.

It can be observed that the ‘Plus’ model lost its title as the iPhone with the best battery life this year. The company’s claims of the iPhone 16 Pro featuring the best battery life were true, as it lasted longer than any iPhone on the table. While it is the iPhone with the best battery life that Apple has made to date, it still lags behind the competition, which is a surprising outcome, given how the Galaxy S24 Ultra is almost a year old at this point.
