Rams to face Big Green for first time since 1997

BRONX, N.Y. – The Fordham University Rams continue the 2024 season, Fordham’s 124th varsity season, by traveling to Hanover, N.H., to face the Dartmouth College Big Green on Memorial Field on Saturday, September 21, at 1:00 p.m.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Matt Corsetti (p-b-p) and Chris Jared (analyst) announcing and broadcast live on WFUV (90.7 FM) and wfuvsports.org with Lou Orlando (p-b-p) and Evan Harkin (analyst) handling the announcing chores.
Fordham enters the game with an 0-3 record after a home loss to Stony Brook University last week, while Dartmouth enters its season opener after going 6-4 last fall.
Saturday’s game will be the fifth meeting between Fordham and Dartmouth on the gridiron, the first since 1997. The Big Green lead the all-time series, 4-1, and have taken the past four meetings.
A few notes on the game:
• Fordham took the first meeting with the Big Green, 14-6, at Dartmouth in 1951.
• The Fordham Rams have thrown the second most touchdown passes of any NCAA FCS school over the past three years.
• The Rams threw a school-record 58 scoring strikes in 2022 (56 of those from Tim DeMorat who set a school and Patriot League record), had 26 from quarterback CJ Montes last year, and have two this year for a total of 86.
• Fordham senior linebacker James Conway has 386 total tackles, third on the Fordham career list.
• Fordham senior running back Julius Loughridge, who has rushed for more than 100 yards in each of the first two games, has 2,280 career rushing yards, eighth on the Fordham all-time rushing list.
• Fordham senior linebacker James Conway, senior defensive lineman Matt Jaworski, and junior quarterback CJ Montes were named 2024 Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America Team.
• Fordham is represented by six captains in 2024: senior defensive lineman Matt Jaworski, grad student wide receiver Mekai Felton, grad student offensive linemen Ryan Joyce (who is serving as a captain for the second straight year), grad student defensive back Nahil Perkins, and grad student linebacker Mike Courtney.
• Two former Fordham football Rams are currently on NFL rosters. Running back Chase Edmonds, who was drafted in the fourth round by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2018 draft, is a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but will miss the 2024 season due to injury while offensive lineman Nick Zakelj, who was selected in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft by the San Francisco and enters his third year with the 49ers.
• No New York area college football team has won more games since 2012 than Fordham, who has amassed 79 victories over that stretch. The closest collegiate competitors are Army West Point (77), Sacred Heart (71), Stony Brook (60), and Rutgers (56), while the NFL’s Giants lead all NYC area professional teams with 76 wins over the past 12 years and the Jets have 70.
