PLNK Fitness Studio opens in Avon

“Goal. Crush. Repeat.” That is the motto at PLNK Fitness Studio, which opens its seventh location, PLNK | MTN in Avon on Saturday.

PLNK (pronounced “plank”), offers a total body, 50-minute workout featuring the Lagree Method using a device called the Megaformer. The unique workout focuses on targeted muscular strength building and conditioning, combining cardio, strength, core, flexibility, and balance to work multiple muscles with slow controlled movements under constant tension to burn more calories and trigger a greater metabolic response. It’s nicknamed “Pilates on steroids” and the method and the Megaformer currently hold over 100 patents.

“PLNK is different from any other fitness modality, it involves low, intentional movements with a hyper focus on form and alignment, a full body workout each and every class and core engagement that cannot be duplicated anywhere else,” said Brooke Meek, who founded PLNK in 2016 in St., Louis, Missouri. “It is the perfect accessory workout for those who ski or snowboard, individuals who bike or run, for individuals coming back from injury or for those that make it their everyday sweat. PLNK is truly for every “body” and with such an active population here we’re confident the studio will thrive in the Vail Valley.”

PLNK currently has three studios in the St. Louis area, and additional studios in Omaha, Nebraska, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Rogers, Arkansas. Even though PLNK has a presence in the Midwest, Meek said a Rocky Mountain location has been in the works for years.

“My family has been coming to the Vail Valley for as long as I can remember. We started looking for space to open a studio in 2020 and then COVID hit. It feels like the Avon studio has been in the works for forever.” Meek said. “With more and more people making this area their permanent home and with so many of our clients who visit and live in the valley multiple months out of the year, it just made sense to open up here.”

PLNK | MTN will offer more than 35 classes each week, starting as early as 5:30 a.m. and as late as 6:30 p.m., seven days per week. Small class sizes led by certified instructors give clients group fitness energy paired with personal training attention. PLNK’s newest location in Avon is next door to Starbucks and Avon Bakery and Deli and has 1,420 square feet with 10 Megaformer machines available.

The PLNK workout isn’t just for the seasoned Pilates class attendees, it’s for anyone who wants to improve their fitness wherever they are at. Members range from pro athletes to first-timers, those who have been fitness-focused their whole life, and those new to the journey. Health aficionados who can no longer engage in high-impact activities, including folks recovering from an injury or coming back after having a baby, are also driven toward this challenging, low-impact workout.

“The workout focuses on targeted muscular building and conditioning by combining cardio, strength, core, flexibility, and balance through slow controlled movements,” Meek said. “Clients work muscles to fatigue, resulting in a greater metabolic response.”

The schedule is live and classes are open for booking, including a week of free community classes. PLNK Fitness will be open at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday for the grand opening.
